SUMMARY OF AZ TRIAL COURT COVID-19 PROCEDURES

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Arizona trial courts have modified their court schedule and procedures to address public health concerns. Below is a summary of the changes made for Maricopa, Pinal, and Pima county courts.

I. Maricopa County (26 Justice Courts)

a. Arrowhead Justice Court: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing.
b. Hassayampa Justice Court: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing.
c. Manistee Justice Court: No modification of court document or closure. Attorneys are permitted to appear in person but defendants must call in telephonically to the hearing.

d. North Valley Justice Court: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing. Court is encouraging telephonic appearances.
e. Kyrene Justice Court: Suspension of hearings starting on March 26th. Hearings will resume in April. Court is delaying the signing of writs of restitution.
f. San Tan justice Court: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing.
g. San Marcos: Court is pushing all new filings to a hearing date of April 7, 2020.
h. University Lakes: Court is pushing new filings to a hearing date of April 2, 2020.
i. Arcadia Biltmore: Court will be pushing new filings to a hearing date of March 30, 2020. Constable has advised our office that court will delay the execution of writs of restitution.
j. Downtown: Court is pushing all new filings to a hearing date of March 30, 2020.
k. Encanto: Court is pushing all new filings to a hearing date of March 31, 2020.
l. South Mountain: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing. Court has advised that it will not be issuing writs of restitution for two weeks from date of judgment.
m. Desert Ridge: No reported changes.
n. Dreamy Draw: Court is pushing hearings until April 7, 2020.
o. McDowell Mountain: Court is pushing new filings to April.
p. Moon Valley: Court is pushing all pending matters to a hearing date of April 1, 2020 for docket times of 10:00, 10:30, and 11:00 A.M.
q. Agua Fria: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing.
r. Country Meadows: Court is pushing new filings to a hearing date of April 3, 2020.
s. Maryvale: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing. Court is limiting number of cases being heard at one time to 40 cases.
t. White Tank: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing.

u. North Mesa: Court is spreading cases over a four day period with a maximum of 50 cases per docket. Hearing dates are now Monday at 2:00 PM, Tuesday at 3:30 PM, Wednesday at 8:00 AM, and Friday at 10:00 AM.
v. East Mesa: Court is pushing all cases, except immediate evictions, to April 1, 2020.
w. Highland: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing.
x. Ironwood: No update available.
y. West Mesa: All cases will be pushed to hearing dates of March 30th and March 31st, except health and safety related cases.
II. Pima County
Court is not hearing any cases, regardless of case type, until May 4, 2020. New filings are being accepted but no cases will be heard until May 2020. Pima County Constables are refusing to serve already authorized writs.
III. Pinal County

a. Western Pinal: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing. Court is encouraging telephonic appearances.
b. Central Pinal: No modification of court docket or closure. Modification as to trial court procedures with requirements for litigants to engage in social distancing. Court is encouraging telephonic appearances.
c. Florence: No update.
